The cost sucks but so does the product. Gudbranson is basically a young Polak and when it comes to Polak, I'm still wishing we had Gunnarsson back.

I still think that the Leafs could have made a deal for Sami V. - seeing as what we got from the devils, Leafs had the pieces to make that happen.

A. That isn't the cost for poopty dmen

B. I'm not overvaluing 2nd round picks. 2nd round picks are valuable. Plenty of good player come from there.

C. The leafs don't need to overpay for a crappy player that isn't better than what we already have.

It’s that we should be getting one to take Gudbranson off their hands.

We need about 5 new D....how about we just stay the course and keep gathering picks and make the best of what we can with what we have, even our forwards Nylander/Marner/Brown/Hyman need more seasoning. I don't think the Leafs are really close to be thinking about cup runs.

Anaheim isn't exactly rebuilding so Bozak being 31 instead of 27 shouldn't matter that much to them.

But even if we assume Bozak being older is a factor, if it was Bozak, Leivo and a 2nd for Vatanen, does Anaheim say no?

Agreed. Keep drafting unless they have a shot to get a very good dman not a bottom pairing guy, the prospect system is pretty mediocre right now so it’s nice to keep adding to it while guys get better on the Leafs.

I would have taken that deal in a second... Long term Rico is going to be 3rd line C .. which is what Bozak is ... add a 2nd and Leivo.. that I think would have swung Murray to Leafs from the Devils..
Sami has looked pretty good in Jersey after a slow start.
